Visit the File Transfer forum to discuss any of VanDyke Software's file transfer tools which include SecureFX, vsh, vcp, and AbsoluteFTP. Ask a question, share a tip or trick, or make a suggestion about improving these tools. A: The SecureCRT 64-bit version was specially designed for 64-bit Windows Operating Systems and performed much better on those. The SecureCRT 32-bit version was initially intended for 32-bit Windows Operating Systems, but it can also run on 64-bit Windows Operating Systems. SecureCRT is an application that builds by VanDyke Software. SecureCRT emulates a number of major terminal consoles such VT100, VT102, VT220, ANSI, SCO ANSI, Wyse 50/60, Xterm, and even Linux. SecureCRT can also help you automate routines so that you don't have to worry about executing them manually. SecureCRT is a great terminal manager and secure authenticator that can help protect your most sensitive.

SecureCRT is a commercial SSH and Telnet client and terminal emulator by VanDyke Software. Originally a Windows product, VanDyke added a Mac OS X version[1] and Linux version.[2]

History[edit]

In my opinion, one of the best Telnet/Serial/SSH client is SecureCRT, that provides rock-solid terminal emulation for computing professionals, raising productivity with advanced session management and a host of ways to save time and streamline repetitive tasks. I recently had the need to import a hundred devices in SecureCRT, but I didn’t know how to do. SecureCRT on Mac does not currently support the use of Themes. I have recorded your interest in our database of SecureCRT feature requests so that the product director can evaluate it for possible inclusion in a future release. Should a version of SecureCRT become available with this feature, we will be sure to let you know.

SecureCRT is a GUI-based telnet client and terminal emulator originally called CRT. It was first released in the autumn of 1995 by VanDyke Software.[3][4] Originally released as a premium version of CRT with support for SSH encryption, SecureCRT later absorbed the CRT product entirely. The program is part of a line of networking software which includes SecureFX, a file transfer client with SSL capability, and VShell, an SSH server.

SecureCRT

SecureCRT and SecureFX can be started from within each other and use a combined host information list. A separately-sold pack of command-line tools (e.g., scp, modeled after the Unix command of the same name) for use with VShell is also sold by the company. All offerings are commercialware.

SecureCRT® for Linux

Network professionals can run SecureCRT on Linux distributions, or switch back and forth easily between Linux, Mac, and Windows. All platforms deliver:

Securecrt Linux

  • Quality emulation
  • Standards-based security
  • Powerful session management
  • High-productivity interface
  • Time-saving automation tools
  • Keyword Highlighting

Highlight individual words, phrases, or substrings in the session window to identify errors in log files or streaming output and to highlight prompts. Regular expressions are also supported, making it easier to highlight strings like IP addresses. Keyword display attributes (bold, reverse video, and color) can be combined.

  • Command Manager

Streamline repetitive tasks with the dockable Command Manager, which makes it easy to organize commands into named folders, filter commands by name, and launch them with a double click or by pressing Enter. Commands and command folders can also be shared with the button bar and vice versa.

  • Session Configuration and Management

SecureCRT gives you extensive session management options. Name your sessions, save and recall session settings, and configure custom keyboard, display, connection and other settings for each session. You can also organize your sessions in folders and access your sessions quickly by typing part of the session name in the Connect bar or the Session Manager's filter bar.

  • Tab Groups

Tab groups allow you to compare the output of two sessions and group related sessions in the same SecureCRT window so that you can get more done in less time. You can organize sessions in tabs and switch easily between them. Or you can work in one tab while monitoring the session output in another tab. Tabs can be grouped vertically or horizontally.

  • Status Bar

Customize the status bar by displaying only the items you want in the order you want. When a session is being logged, the log file name is shown in the status bar, and while a selection is being made, the line count is shown (as seen above).
